THE POWER SKILLS PROGRAMS

Emotional Regulation Skill Building for the Classroom

Program Highlights:

  • 5-minute daily lessons for all Tier 1 Pre-K–8th grade students

  • Year-round implementation with ready-to-use additional lesson plans

  • Support for school social workers, counselors, and teachers addressing student mental health at a nonclinical level in the areas of Anxiety, ADHD, and trauma

  • Membership access to videos, audio guides, digital downloads, and seasonal practice materials

This curriculum integrates actual physical techniques of evidence-based emotional regulation strategies alongside educational lessons to build awareness of how one’s emotions impact their body and why these techniques work to help build students’ self regulation, resiliency, and mental health.

Teachers have reported that parents are noticing improvement in their child’s emotional regulation at home as activities are able to be sent home for parental involvement.

All daily lessons stay under the 5 minute timeframe to reduce the demand on teachers’ classroom time

Learn More About the Curriculum
Our nation is seeing increasing numbers of students experiencing poverty and trauma and growing numbers of children with mental health disorders.
— Dr. Andrea Clyne, President of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)

Why It Works

This curriculum integrates evidence-based emotional regulation techniques with educational lessons that teach students how emotions affect the body and mind.
By combining physical and cognitive regulation strategies, students learn how to:

  • Recognize emotional triggers and school-based tools to address them

  • Use actual, physical self-regulation strategies in real time in classroom settings

  • Create a school-wide and district-wide language and response around emotional regulation and mental health that is built upon year after year

  • Build long-term emotional resilience and mental health

All daily lessons stay under five minutes to protect teachers’ valuable classroom time.

Who It’s For

  • All Tier 1 Classroom teachers (Pre-K–8th grade)
