About the Program

I developed the Power Skills Program to assist with the growing mental health and self regulation needs of our students and youth. With over 14 years of experience as a licensed therapist working with children and adolescents to build emotional regulations skills, I have seen the profound impact they have on mental health as well as daily engagement, communication, productivity, and overall happiness.

When it comes to self regulation in children, the issues often falls into two categories:

1- not knowing how to respond when stressed or upset

2- knowing what to do, but feeling unable to do it in the moment

The Power Skills Programs focus on both of those issues with evidence-based Top-Down psychoeducation that build awareness and teaches students about their stress responses as well as Bottom-Up Strategies that teach students how to have control over their body’s responses when their stress response is engaged.

About Me

Jaclyn Wesolowski, MA, LCPC

I am a Trauma and ADHD specialist and work extensively with Anxiety, Depression, and major life adjustments in children, adolescents, and adults. I have over 140 additional clinical training hours in Trauma-Focused care.

I developed this program to assist with the growing mental health and self regulation needs of our students and youth. After assisting to develop trauma responses for the children that were devastated by the 2023 earthquakes in Turkey, I often found myself in discussions with other professionals about the growing trauma responses in children in our school systems that is often overlooked because it is more subtle than the immediate symptoms of a natural disaster. I knew that the self regulation skills we’re using to help these children in high trauma situations are also beneficial for all children to engage in for daily regulation and emotional skill building. That’s when I began working on the Power Skills Program.
